Eater's is for the Community.
Laurie and Lee conceived Eater's Guild in response to the call of South West Michigan's community. Many people in the area wanted to support
and be supported by local, organic vegetables. The birth of Eater's Guild came in 2001, the same year our daughter Iris was born.
Our goal was then, and remains today, to be stewards of the soil, to cultivate its community, and to
find and nurture our health in a manner that is inclusive to the health of our
soil community. We do this with refined and age-old organic practices,
integrating plant and animals into an agroecology that feeds us,
the soil, and perpetuates uncultivated biodiversity.
CSA members are the heart of our farm.
On weeks when the produce is abundant,
shares get the best of the best, a careful composition designed
to anchor your week's meal planning. When the produce
is tight, the CSA always eats first, in line before the farmers
markets, restaurants and grocers.
Our CSA's are designed to last.
Our CSA lengthens the span of time that members receive a return on their investment. We share the full cycle of eating diversity, covering 45 weeks with
our summer and winter shares. Summer CSA shares last for 25 weeks, 5 weeks longer than many CSA's in the area. And we deliver winter shares for 20 weeks.
Our
summer share starts in the first half of May and ends near November.
Our winter shares deliver every other week starting the first of
December to the beginning of April. If shares are available, you
can join at the beginning of either cycle.
You have Choices in Terms of Cost and Size
Summer shares can be
full or half shares for $500 and $285, respectively. From our experience we can say that half shares are usually adequate for one
or two people. Fully shares serve three to four people. Of course, there are
individuals that can eat a full share themselves and families of
five that prefer to use a half share as an addition to their other food sources.
There are many pairs of couples or small families that split a full
share for their mutual benefit.
